This past Sunday I spoke about discipling your children. I meant to give two book recommendations near the end of the message but when I looked at the clock and saw that I had only had five minutes left and still had one point to give I skipped over that part. So here they are!
The first book I highly recommend is called, Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham. I read this book earlier this year and it is still one of my favorite books I have read all year. He focuses a lot on how to disciple your child spiritually in the context of the family. Voddie is a great writer and I have no doubt you will find this one an easy yet challenging read. Even if you don’t agree with every point (for example, he is very pro-homeshool) you will still learn a lot.
The second book is Shepherding a Child’s Heart by Tedd Tripp. The main focus of this book is the discipline aspect of parenting. He gives some excellent points on how to disciple your children and teens as well as some practical information on a biblical perspective of discipline.
Both of these books are available on Amazon kindle and paperback.
As I said on Sunday, parenting takes hard work and a lot of effort. Perhaps reading one (or both) of these books will be a good first step toward raising your kids to love God.
